Summary: For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

My Review: This book is great, I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy, and if it is made into a TV show(I’m keeping my fingers crossed) I can’t wait for that!

At first, the book was just eh, but when I got a bit into it, I realized how great it was- it’s like a Hunger Games, but with Peeta as a prince, and Katniss’s relationship with Gale basically outlawed.

This is one of those books that grows on you over time, you start out going ‘eh’ but by the end, you are loving it, and rooting for the characters to FRIGGIN KISS ALREADY. (was that a spoiler? I don’t think so.)

(SPOILER ALERT: PLEASE STOP READING NOW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK, AND JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT’S AMAZING!! SCROLL DOWN IF YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK. THE REST OF THE REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

And we never do get our kiss.
*sigh*
Oh well, I have high hopes for book two.

I had a hard time enjoying this book, because for some reason I had this auto-grudge towards Aspen- I was rooting for America and Maxon from the beginning, so every time she was like ‘but I’m still in love with Aspen…’ I groaned, and mentally screamed, since I stayed up past five AM to finish this book, KISS MAXON ALREADY, IDIOT!

  1. That's exactly my thought! Whenever Aspen had an appearance in the book, I had this sudden urge on me to punch him. I think that's the violent side of me talking. Haha. Anyways, I absolutely adore your blog! I just stumbled upon it now. The design of your blog is just too cute! Seriously. >.<

  3. I finally bought this for Kindle. I was on the edge of "Do I want it" or "Do I not want it?" You're review makes it sound more appealing! Good to know it starts out slow but picks up, too, so I know to give it a chance. And thanks for the spoiler alert before that second half! - Shields eyes. - Haha :)
